This increases throughput by 50% or more and reduces elapsed time by up to 70%. FASTVSAM enhances Export/Import procedures with the use of wild card name specifications. FASTVSAM is also 2 to 4 times faster than IDCAMS - Export/Import. FASTVSAM can also improve resource management by reducing CPU time by 50% or more and cutting EXCP counts by up to 80%. As for high-speed copy of VSAM files, FASTVSAM copies a cluster faster, speeding up the job of system and data management. This means that VSAM file backups are faster and the data will be available to users sooner.

Technical Features

FASTVSAM is completely JCL-transparent. It can be installed as a replacement for IDCAMS because it uses the same command language and syntax. All existing JCL and CLISTS will take advantage of the improvements FASTVSAM offers, with no modifications. Utilizing comprehensive BACKUP ability, FASTVSAM is a VSAM file management solution that coordinates related components to efficiently back up all data and associated cluster information. FASTVSAM also features powerful RESTORE ability. You can select files to restore by name, volume and catalog of origin. FASTVSAM restores all clusters and components, including key ranges, CI size and primary/secondary space allocations.
